Happy New Year!

02Jan08

nye-fireworks.jpg Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy new year and all the best for a rollicking 2008!

Christophe and I somehow found ourselves in the Sikkimese capital – Gangtok – for New Year’s Eve, and managed by wonderful luck (rather than by careful planning), to share the evening’s festivities with a few of the friends we have made in the course of our travels across India.

Amazingly, the 7 of us all happened to find ourselves in this rather remote Indian city to see in the new year… and while we all claimed it was the promise of the pristine Sikkimese wilderness that brought us here, perhaps it had something to do with the lure of that other specialty of the region – alcohol (and lots of it).

nye-dangerous-cocktail-1.jpg To get into the spirit of things for the evening, we decided to to partake in some of the local favourites (rum.. beer… more rum….), and even tried to concoct a few specialties of our own (unfortunately my unique skills in the cocktail-making department are clearly ahead of my time and yet to be truly appreciated!)

Anyway – the surprise reunion and heel-kicking in Sikkim turned out to be a real treat and the perfect introduction to 2008. We hope you all had such a jubilant start to the new year.

All the best + bonne annee!

    richaaard… hello hello!
we love your plan the idea of crazy catch-up somewhere….
as to where the bloody hell we shall be… that’s a very good question…!

at the moment i think we are on a plane flying into budapest round march 22 (…if you fancy some cream cakes in that part of the world…)
after that – a brief touchdown in france, and then some exploring in east africa – tanzania, mozambique, uganda – round that neck of the woods… (we think! …depends what things are like round that time of the year and if it’s not too crazy over there)

that said – things could change at any moment… we’re very flexible…!
…what do you have up your sleeve..? shall our paths cross for a beer somewhere…?!

    cheers,
    kate chris xx
